BEING A BLESSING #2
April 14, 2024

In our previous series, “Flip the Blessing,” we focused on how to get the blessing.
We’ve explored the habits of highly blessed people - humility, integrity, generosity, creativity, and even praising God for partial miracles. We’ve discussed ways of positioning ourselves for blessing. God won’t bless a lack of effort any more than a lack of gratitude. Obedience is the baseline of blessing. Here is the essence of flipping the blessing - we are blessed

To be a blessing…

I. The science of seeding clouds may be a twentieth century breakthrough, but
the theology of seeding clouds is as ancient as Ecclesiastes…

Ecclesiastes 11:4 NIV
Whoever watches the wind will not plant whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.

A. If you

until you’re , you’ll be waiting the rest of your life.

B. Some observations:
1. Yes, you need to

like there’s no tomorrow, but you also have to like there is one.

Proverbs 16:3 NIV
Commit to the LORD whatever you do and he will establish your plans.

2.God doesn’t a lack of any more than a lack of praying.
3. That said, the will never be perfectly .
4. At some point you’ve got to quit making excuses - you have to pick up the and start the soil, or in this case, the clouds.

Faith is the willingness to go it alone…

II. If you are going to be a blessing, at some point you’ve got to stop watching the clouds.

A. If you have a dream that’s gathering

, you need to seed the with a step off faith.

B. Make note of the last two words of Mark’s gospel…

Mark 16:20 KJV
And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Ephesians 2:10 NIV
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

C. I have no doubt that God is prepping good works in advance, but more often
than not, we’ve got to take a step of

in the of that good work.

D. Some final observations:

  1. God paving our way with signs preceding sounds comforting, but that would Rob us of the opportunity to participate in the miracle by

    our .

  2. No doubt, God does

in , but more often than not, we have to seed the clouds just like the first century disciples did.

  3. The counterintuitive command God gave Joshua before the parting of the Jordan River is a great example of “Go, Set, Ready.”

Joshua 3:1-8 NIV
Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set out from Shittim and went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over. 2 After three days the officers went throughout the camp, & giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. 4 Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubitslal between you and the ark; do not go near it.” 5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LoRD will do amazing things among you.” 6 Joshua said to the priests, “Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.” So they took it up and went ahead of them. ” And the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. 8 Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant. When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and
stand in the river.”

4.Could it be that you are waiting for God to

the , while God is waiting for us to step into the river?
