Part 1: The Dangerous Myths of Mental Health
Myth # 1: Christians shouldn’t
with mental health.
(I Kings 19:3-4) Elijah was afraid and ran for his life…while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life…
(1 Kings 19:7) The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.”

Myth # 2: God doesn’t
about your mental health.
(Psalm 88:3-5) I am overwhelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death. I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am like one without strength. I am set apart with the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more, who are cut off from your care.
(Psalm 88:13-14) But I cry to you for help, Lord; in the morning my prayer comes before you. Why, Lord, do you reject me and hide your face from me?
(Psalm 88:18) You have taken from me friend and neighbor— darkness is my closest friend.
(1 Peter 5:7 NLT) Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
(Matthew 6:26) Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Myth # 3: Less
means more peace.
(Isaiah 26:3 NKJV) You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
(John 14:27) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you…
(1 Thessalonians 5:23-24) May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
