Discussion Questions

1. The first step is to accept the fact that God wants to be our guide in every area of our life. Why do you think that many Christians don’t or won’t accept that as a fact?
   • They don’t know or just choose not to believe God’s Word that tells us this is so. God’s Word plainly says in Proverbs 3:6 (AMP) In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

2. The second step is to become convinced that the Lord will give us directions for us to follow in life. But, how to we become totally convinced that this will happen?
   • We stay in the Word daily by meditating on the promises in Prov 4:5-6 and James 1:5-6
   • We immediately attack every doubtful thought the moment it touches your mind.
   • Every day we use our God-given imagination to see ourselves receiving God’s promises and the more we do this the better will be our results.

3. The Third step is to learn what to do when you’re just not hearing the Holy Spirit’s directions. What are the 4 things we learned to in order to determine why we’re not hearing the Lord?
   • Check to see if there are any sins that may have crept into your life and confess them.
   • Increase your meditation time in the Word - and cut off the worldly influences like TV and worldly friends for a while.
   • Check to see if a thought keeps popping up in your mind for this is one way that the Holy Spirit reminds us of what God is saying to you personally.
   • Ask the Lord to confirm what He’s directing us to do and in the Bible.

4. The 4th step is to know that God’s directions will never contradict His Word. What do we do if we think we received a direction that is contrary to what the Word says?
   • We immediately conclude that this wasn’t a direction from the Lord and we ignore it.

5. The 5th step is to be patient and continue to listen when asking the Holy Spirit to lead you. How do you apply patience when waiting on the Lord for an answer?
   • We exercise patience and we remember that the Bible shows that God frequently reveals His directions to us in stages. (read 2 Corinthians 3:18)
   • The Word says that we’re transformed from one degree of glory to another.
   • This process not an instantaneous transformation, it’s done in stages one degree at a time!

6. The 6th step is to become confident that when you step out in faith & act on God’s directions, He won’t let you fall. How do you build this confidence?
   • When we step out in faith acting on God’s directions, He won’t let us fall…
   • Psalm 37:23-24 (AMP) 23 The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step]. 24 Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him.
   • We’re human and we’re going to make mistakes but the Lord will uphold us because we’re being faithful in striving to do His will.
   • Even if you make a mistake, He will uphold you He loves you and won’t desert you.
