And you Philippians yourselves know that in the
beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no
church entered into partnership with me in giving and
receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you
sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I
seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your
credit. Phil. 4:15-17
2 Cor. 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so
that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you
may abound in every good work.
2 Cor. 9:15
Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!
As faithful stewards of treasures, today we see that
Jesus supplies richly even as we give beyond ability, so
that we remain content (or learn contentment) in all
circumstances.
Give:
• Giving refers to any amount offered to the Lord
without expectation of return.
• Giving, specifically tithing (Tithe means 10th)
represents a sanctified and holy offering to the
Lord. Lev. 27:30-32
Old Testament Israel’s tithes include:
• The Lord tithe- Nub. 18:21-29; LEV. 27:30-32
• The Festival tithe- Deut. 12:10-11, 17-18
• The Poor tithe- Deut. 14:28-29

The people of Israel were required a minimum of 25% a
year.
Additional offerings were…
• First Fruit Offerings-Numbers 18:11- 13
• Free Will Offerings-Exodus 25:1-2
Q: Why is giving important to God?

Jn. 3:16; 2 Cor. 9: 6-7 2 Ki. 5:16, 20. Matt. 6:21. Mk.

“The true legacy of a leader is not how many times
they have reached the top, but how many times they
have helped others reach higher levels.” Kubicek, J &
Cockram, S. (2019)
Be a leader worth following…
• The truth is, there is no way to grow into spiritual
maturity without giving yourself entirely to God.
I have tried to keep things in my hands and lost them all,
but what I have given into God’s hands I still possess.
Martin Luther
I do not believe one can settle how much we ought to
give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to give more than
we can spare. C.S. Lewis
Closing,
Generous giving increases our faith and trust in Jesus,
our rewards in heaven, and is the mark of the faithful
steward of treasures.
Extra notes:
Everything is God’s, and we are entrusted to
manage a portion of it.
Generous giving is the mark of The Faithful
Steward of Treasures
