Growth Group Questions - The Essentials - Equipping
Part of The Essentials
June 15, 2025
We all must take responsibility for our own spiritual growth. It doesn’t just happen. That’s why we are doing this series on the Essentials, five practices that will strengthen our relationship with Jesus. This week we look at the importance of being equipped for godly living.
- What is one of the most favorite gifts you have ever received?
- Read Ephesians 4:1-16. What does it look like for us to live a life worthy of our calling as followers of Christ in today’s world? How can we do that?
- Read 1 Peter 2:5 and 9. What does it mean to be part of God’s royal priesthood? In what ways might the church be experiencing an “identity crisis” when it comes to understanding and living out our identity in Christ? Why is important that we have a proper perspective of who we are in Christ?
- Compare and contrast Psalms 68:18 with Ephesians 4:8. What difference do you see? Why is this noteworthy?
- Ephesians 4:7-13 highlights the lengths Jesus went to so we could receive spiritual gifts. How does this perspective change the way you view your calling as an active participant in the body of believers?
- The same passage also talks about the grace given to each of us according to Christ’s gift. How do you see this gift working in your own life and how are you using your gifts, talents, resources, and abilities, with the power of the Holy Spirit, to serve other people for the glory of God?
- It is up to us to take responsibility for our own spiritual growth. What are some of the ways we can all become better equipped for godly living?
- When we intentionally equip ourselves for godly living, service, and ministry as it fits our SHAPE (Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences) the Kingdom of God is advanced. Can you identify an area where the Lord is calling you to move from the bench and into the game? What specific action step will you take to answer His call?
