Sermon Title: Why the Resurrection Matters
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:12-20

Here are the ramifications if the resurrection didn’t happen:
1. Jesus’ resurrection is a myth. He’s still dead. (v.13)
2. Our preaching and your faith is useless (v.14)
3. We are ALL false witnesses. (v.15)
4. Your faith is futile; a waste of time (v.17)
5. You are still dead in your sin (v17)
6. Those who died in Christ are gone (v.19)
7. We are the most pitiful people in the world. (v19)

The entire Christian faith falls or stands based on Jesus’ resurrection.

*For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Cor 15:22*
*Everyone born into the human race under Adam, are born into sin and death. Everyone born into God’s family by faith in Jesus by faith, are born into his life and resurrection “But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.” 1 Cor. 15:23*

How the bible speaks about our future:
- Isaiah called it the new heavens and the new earth. (Isaiah 65)
- Jesus called it the renewal of all things. (Matthew 19)
- John called it eternal life. (John 5)
- Paul called it the age to come. (Romans 8; Ephesians 2; Philippians 1; 1 Tim 6)
- Peter called it the time for God to restore everything (Acts 3)

*“And they sang a new song, saying: You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation, You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God and they will reign on the earth.” Revelations 5:9-10*
