SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

WARM UP QUESTION
Describe a time when you got into a circumstance that turned out really bad. What do you wish you would have known before you got into it? Did anything good come from it?

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Read Romans 7:1-6. How does marriage illustrate God’s plan for our relationship with Jesus?
2. What are the reasons given for why we were put to death in relation to the law? What do you think these mean in our lives?
3. Read Romans 7:7-13. What makes the law inadequate for dealing with our sin?
4. How does the commandment “Do not covet” illuminate the sinfulness of human nature?
5. What are some ways the law helps us?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
6. What are the scenarios where you most frequently find sin coming through your own thoughts, actions, or words?
7. In John’s message he compared the law to the rattle on a rattlesnake. Do you ever hear warnings when you are moving toward some sinful thought or behavior? What form do these warnings take? Do you respond to them? How? What happens when you ignore them?
8. Is your life bearing fruit for God? If not, how do you think Paul would counsel you to address this issue?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
9. What would you like your “fruit for God” to look like as you follow Jesus? What steps might take you closer to bearing it?
