Please read Isaiah 53:1-8 and answer the following questions:
1. Please consider that the Book of Isaiah was written over 700 years before Jesus came. What perspective does that give you about God’s sovereignty, power, and love?
2. What insight do the following verses give you about verses 2-3?
a. Philippians 2:6-8
b. John 17:4-5
3. Please explain the ways Jesus suffered for us in verses 4-6, 7-8.
4. What do verses 4-6 say about where the heart of Israel (and of most of the world’s) was when He did it. What does this tell you about the heart of God toward us?
5. What hope do verses 4-6 give the person who struggles with:
a. Self-rule?
b. Self-indulgence?
c. Self-pity?
d. Self-protection?
6. Please read 1 Peter 2:21-23.
