Series: Romans – Grasping The Gospel
Sermon Title: Part 44 – Restoring Reverence for God
Scripture: Romans 11:33–36
Speaker: Pastor Mark Pospisil
Questions:
If you were to attempt to explain the truth that God is all-knowing, how would you go about trying to explain it?
What does it mean to revere God? What does it not mean to revere Him?
Why is the Lord worthy of reverence? Can you think of a few examples in the Bible when people lost their reverence for God? What happened to them? How did they get to that place? How do we keep ourselves from getting there?
Read Romans 11:34. Does God need a counselor? Have you ever tried to be God’s “counselor?”
As we read Romans 11:34, we see Paul quote Isaiah 40:13 in asking who has known the mind of the Lord (Answer: no one!). How does this fact affect or influence your obedience to God’s directions when those directions don’t make sense to you?
When was the last time you took time to pray, where you had nothing else to ask, no other agenda, except to praise God? In what ways might Romans 11:33-36 help you to personally worship and praise God’s excellence?
In what ways can you recapture your awe and reverence for the Lord? Are there any practical changes to make? Any prayers to pray?
