Hebrews 2:10-18
Hebrews has already stated some amazing truths about who Jesus is.
Son of God
Radiance of the Father’s glory
Exact representation of the Father’s nature
Eternal
Creator
Sustainer
Son of David
Heir of all things
Seated at the right of the Majesty on High
Savior
Redeemer
Jesus is greater.
My Notes
Hebrews 1 emphasizes Jesus as the Son of God. Today’s passage emphasizes Jesus as the Son of David.
The son of God had to become man:
Jesus had to fulfill the promises God made of a Hero who would come- the seed of the woman, the descendant of Abraham and David.
Physical and spiritual death was a consequence of our rebellion. Jesus had to be a man to be a suitable sacrifice for men.
“To perfect the author of all things through sufferings” does not mean that Jesus was lacking in moral character, rather that salvation could only be completed through His suffering.
As a man, Jesus could perfectly intercede between mankind and the Father. He became our merciful and faithful High Priest.
My Notes
Because of what Jesus did, we are no longer enslaved in fear of death, of judgment, or of condemnation. Jesus can be our Savior not our judge. Have you asked Him to be your savior?
