I Need You Lord (Psalm 30) - Message Study Questions
Message Summary
In Psalm 30, David confesses overconfidence (verses 6-10), sandwiched between two outbursts of praise. David had just recovered from a health problem that nearly cost him his life. It is thought to be the plague recorded in 1 Chronicles 21. His illness had taken a toll on him physically, emotionally, and spiritually. He had reached a new low in life, but God brought hope and ultimately turned David’s sorrow into joy.
David boasted about his prosperity. He began to put his faith in his stuff and his abilities rather than God. He drifted far enough to bring severe discipline from God. David repented by acknowledging God gave him everything he had. He got down and cried out to God; he reasoned with God, and God restored him. David both laments his situation and praises God for being with and delivering him. Upon his deliverance, David sang and danced for joy and promised to thank God forever. His exuberance and passion for God serves as an example for us today.

Consider This
When you cry out to God, it’s OK to actually feel and show emotion. Lift your hands, raise your head, and seek Him with your heart. Crying out means you audibly speak to God. Singing praise is also audible, both of which help us to connect our heart to the heart of God. It’s putting action to our faith. With God, there is always hope.
