PERSEVERANCE

Pastor Jeremy Helmuth
2 Thessalonians 2:13-17
November 3-5, 2023

Why does someone LOVE the TRUTH?
If we want to be saved, we must “love the truth” (2 Thess 2:10). But why do some people “love the truth” while others “delight in wickedness” in this world? Because God uses a process to rescue us from our sins. The following is how we experience salvation.

God

us.

God

us.

God

us.

WHO does the work of SANCTIFICATION?

WHY are we being SANCTIFIED?

HOW are we being SANCTIFIED?

God

us with the of eternity.

Discussion Questions

When did God CALL you to HIMSELF?
How did you respond when God first called you (Is 6:8; Mt 11:28-30; Mk 1:16-20; Acts 2:39; 1 Cor 7:17-24; 1 Pt 2:9). Did you immediately believe in Him, or did it take time? Do you know anyone who has been “called” through God’s spectacular creation (Rom 1:20)?

What does it mean to be SANCTIFIED?
Study how sanctification means to be made “holy, consecrated, and set apart” (2 Tim 2:21; Acts 26:18; Col 3:5; Ex 13:2; 31:13; Gal 2:20; Heb 2:11; 9:14; 10:10-14; 12:10-14; 1 Cor 1:2; 6:11; 1 Pt 1:2; 1 Th 4:3; 5:23; Rom 15:16). The more you grow in your faith, do you feel out of place in this world? Not fitting into culture is a good sign!

How does GOD’S WORD sanctify us?
Are you daily immersed within the Bible for a significant amount of time (John 17:17-19; 1 Pt 2:2; Ps 119:11; 2 Tim 3:16-17)? God promises that His Word will transform your life. In what ways have you noticed your heart changing as you have grown in the knowledge of God? What truth have you applied to your life lately?

Do you know God’s DIVINE POWER?
Read 2 Peter 1:2-4. God has supplied you with everything you need to life a victorious life over sin. How do you view yourself: as someone who is weak and gives into temptation daily, or a spiritual warrior who is empowered by God to win the battles against the evil one?

Do you believe God will COMPLETE His WORK in you?
Meditate upon these verses in Philipppians (1:6; 2:13). Does this reassure you of your salvation? Do an inventory of your life: what has God been working on inside you? How have you matured over the last couple years? Have others closest to you seen the changes?
