LET’S GO DEEPER:
1. Why were the Israelites willing to ignore the warnings about a king? Why does God seem to “give in” to their request? What does this teach us about Him?


2. Read Luke 23:1-5. How is Israel’s demand for a king similar to the way many Israelites responded to Jesus when He was on earth? Why did people struggle to trust that Jesus was the Messiah?


3. Make a list of 3 situations that a person chooses “the way of the world/culture without fully considering the consequences. Be prepared to share what consequences are the result of those choices.


4. If having a king was so bad, why do you believe the Lord permitted them to have a king?


5. What should a parent do when a child insists on having something that in the long run will cause problems?
