Overview:
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds laid palm branches and cloaks on the road, signaling honor and reverence for a king. Though Jesus was not the kind of king they expected, His entry symbolized uniting God’s heavenly kingdom with people on earth – a kingdom of peace, humility, and righteousness.

“Kangaroo Court” comes from 3 ideas:
1. “Jumped up” out of nowhere like a kangaroo. “Jumped up” or convened quickly to deal with an immediate issue. (Mark 14:46,53,55,64 and 15:13-14)
2. “By leaps” like a kangaroo. “Leaping over” (intentionally ignoring) evidence that would be in favor of the defendant. (Mark 14:56-57)
3. “The pouch” of a kangaroo. The court is in someone’s pocket. Someone paid to make the court happen. (Matthew 26:14-16; Mark 14:44-45)
The kangaroo court in Jerusalem, on that Friday nearly 2,000 years ago, led to the killing of an accused person by mob action without evidence for capital punishment.
