March 30 Honoring God with your Body 1 Corinthians 6:12–20
March 29, 2025

Honoring God with your body
12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined[a] to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin[b] a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:12-20

Body Matters: Living in Holiness

DEFINING your LIFE
1. Who’s Life is it?
2. What is the Issue? —- Living in CHRIST or IN the WORLD
3. Why is it important? — our salvation matters

A TRUE BELIEVER belongs to CHRIST

The PROBLEM IS THAT I MUST BE IN CHRIST ALWAYS
NOT SOMETIMES

We need to DAILY —- work on our SALVATION

WORK ON —— FOCUS ON —- LIVE BECAUSE OF OUR GIFT FROM CHRIST

The Corinthians didn’t connect the salvation
of their souls with their daily conduct

BE DIFFERENT — BE DISTINCT —- BE DILIGENT

LIVING IN THE BODY
He emphasizes the importance of glorifying God
with our bodies as they are temples of the Holy Spirit,
redeemed by Christ’s sacrifice.

Living in our body should be stated as LIVING IN HIS BODY
We are not to soil or poison our TEMPLES of CHRIST

1 Corinthians 6:12–14
12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful.
“All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”
—and God will destroy both one and the other.
The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body
. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.”

We are called to prioritize our spiritual integrity
over cultural norms and personal indulgence.

2. Preserve Spiritual Connection
1 Corinthians 6:15-17
We need to avoid anything that compromises this relationship, especially sexual sin. our bodies are joined with Christ
We have a unique and holy identity to carry.

3. Pursue Holiness Altogether
1 Corinthians 6:18-20
it is imperative to flee from sexual immorality,
We have a distinct call to honor God with our bodies as Temples of the Holy Spirit.
Christians must recognize their bodies as part of the sanctification process.
