At Trailhead, we believe that church is not just about growing in God’s Word but doing so in community. We have designed this study guide to help you follow along with Sunday’s message. Study the scriptures, take notes, and then reinforce what you learned by answering a few questions. Ask others to join you in discussion, whether it be with your family or your Trailhead study group. Let’s have church!

Matthew 22:1-14 (NLT)
1 Jesus also told them other parables. He said, 2 “The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son. 3 When the banquet was ready, he sent his servants to notify those who were invited. But they all refused to come! 4 “So he sent other servants to tell them, ‘The feast has been prepared. The bulls and fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the banquet!’ 5 But the guests he had invited ignored them and went their own way, one to his farm, another to his business. 6 Others seized his messengers and insulted them and killed them. 7 “The king was furious, and he sent out his army to destroy the murderers and burn their town. 8 And he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, and the guests I invited aren’t worthy of the honor. 9 Now go out to the street corners and invite everyone you see.’ 10 So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests. 11 “But when the king came in to meet the guests, he noticed a man who wasn’t wearing the proper clothes for a wedding. 12 ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?’ But the man had no reply. 13 Then the king said to his aides, ‘Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Psalm 103:1-5 (NLT)
1 Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name 2 Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. 3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. 4 He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. 5 He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

Discussion Questions

The following questions can be used for personal study at home, but they are also used by some of our study groups to help aid in discussions. If you would like to learn more about our study groups, visit trailhead.church/groups.

1) Easter Sunday is all about celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and often we focus on what this means for our eternities. While this is extremely important, we tend to overlook how the resurrection affects our daily lives. Why do you think this is?

How does the resurrection impact your every day life? What did it change for you when you received Jesus as your Savior?

2) Pastor Josh pointed out that the Easter message is not just for Christians but for all people. Why is that?

Realizing that the message of our risen Savior should be shared, how does this change what you do at home, work, school, etc?

3) The Easter message is ultimately that you were paid for by the blood of Jesus! Through Him, you can receive forgiveness and begin a new life. What things come with that new life?

Do you feel like Christians take advantage of the life Jesus bought for them? Why? And what can we do to ensure we are living our lives to God’s fullest?
