Project 320: The Kingdom of God
- Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
The Kingdom of God was the primary motivation, mission, message of Jesus.
Jesus used the word church only a couple of times – Matthew 16 and Matthew 18.
- Matthew 16:18
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The word translated as “Church” is the Greek word Ekklesia - people called out (rallied) for a purpose.

Jesus uses the word Kingdom 106 times in the NIV.
- Matthew 4:17
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
AS Jesus sent out his disciples:
Luke 9:2
Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.Luke 10:9
And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
And to The 120 in the upper room in Acts:
- Acts 1:3
After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
And literally the last verse of the Book of Acts – Acts 28:31.
- Acts 28:31
He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!

The church is who we are…but building the Kingdom is what we do.
At Rev City, “be a church that builds the Kingdom.”
We want to “Make disciples that make a difference.”
It’s what He has made you part of – HIS KINGDOM.
- Colossians 1:12-14
always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.
Jesus didn’t come to build an organization or a denomination, He came to rescue His sons and daughters and bring us back into His family – back into a relationship, made part of His Kingdom family.

Benefits of God’s Kingdom:
- Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
Righteousness: Not just good behavior – it’s relational position. Right standing with God.
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
When God sees you He no longer sees your past, your sin, your shame – He sees you through the blood of Jesus.
Righteousness is not just something we do…it’s who we are. It’s what we become through and in Christ.
And when we get this in our hearts, we start to live like sons and daughters of the King.
Joy: There is a joy that we can experience that is based on Jesus and what He’s done and who He is and who we are in Him…
- Nehemiah 8:10
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
If the joy of the Lord is our strength, when we allow the circumstances of life to steal our joy we are operating in a weakened condition.

Peace: It is part of this Kingdom inheritance we have…
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Colossians 3:15
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.Acts of the Apostles 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Grace and Growth: To be committed to both Evangelism and Discipleship.
Romans 5:20-21
God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. 21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Romans 6:1-2
Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? 2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
GIVE AND GO.
FREELY YOU HAVE RECEIVED, FREELY GIVE.
Giving is the verb of the Bible. If God loved, but didn’t give His son, we would not have been redeemed.
- John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Tithing and Giving:
When our hearts are on fire for Jesus and we realize that building the Kingdom is the only thing we do that has lasting impact, tithing becomes an easy starting point for living generously to build the Kingdom.
- Philippians 4:17
Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.
Eternal Significance:
- Matthew 6:19-20
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Giving is not just about our finances, it is about our heart.
- Matthew 6:24
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Many know about God. Some believe in God. Our desire should be to desire to SERVE God.

GENEROSITY:
- Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
GO: To be a church that builds the Kingdom, we will all need to listen and obey to “Go” where, when, and how God calls us to go!
Romans 10:14
But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?Isaiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”Matthew 10:7-8
And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.Matthew 10:39
If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.
