Part of Sunday Sermons
January 28, 2024
Matthew 9:35-38 NASB
“What are you praying for”
35. Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness.
36. Seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep without a shepherd.
37. Then He *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
38. Therefore, plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
Empowerment Keys
- The multitudes should move you
- There should be awareness of what’s going on around us
- The state of things suggested two pictures to His mind: a neglected flock of sheep, and a harvest going to waste for lack of reapers.
- We have a twofold job work and pray
- We should pray with intentionality
- Praying for the harvest challenges the focus and motives of the prayer.
