1. Read Mark 4:26-29
a. Discuss how the Kingdom of God is like a seed that has been sown. What is God’s role in the process? What is ours? How does this compare with what we see in the church today?
b. How does this fit with the push of so many today to take a person from lost to life in a few minutes by following a tract? (Examples: The Four Spiritual Laws, The Romans Road, etc.)
2. Read Mark 4:30-32
a. Why is Jesus’ parable of the mustard seed so powerful? Is this parable still relevant today? If so, how?
b. Who are the birds that Jesus is speaking of? Do they exist today? Who are they?
3. Read Mark 4:33-34
a. These verses are a reminder from earlier in chapter 4. Why has Jesus moved his teaching style to using parables?
b. What can we learn from Jesus’ teaching? How can this comfort us when we are concerned people will not understand us as we communicate the gospel?
