Blessed: Satisfy the Crave
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice (righteousness), for they will be satisfied. —Matthew 5:6
Justice = Righteousness of which God is the source. A divine righteousness. It refers to what is deemed right by the Lord.
Big Idea: Everyone tries to satisfy their cravings, but only in seeking righteousness will I be filled.
Big Question: What does it look like to seek after righteousness?
Main Scripture: Psalm 63
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. 2 I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. 3 Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! 4 I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. 5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. 6 I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. —Psalm 63:1-6
What does it look like to seek after righteousness?
1. Develop a longing for God, Himself.
As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. 2 I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him? —Psalm 42:1-2
