Jesus, the Seed of David

Read 2 Samuel 7:1-22

Icebreaker — If you could rule any historical kingdom for a year, which would you choose and why?

1.What imagery came to mind as you read this passage?

2.How do you respond to the idea that God’s covenant with David includes you as a believer in Christ?

3.What aspects of Christ’s kingship bring you the most comfort or apprehension?

4.How does the fulfillment of this covenant in Jesus Christ impact your understanding of God’s faithfulness?

5.In times when circumstances are out of your control, how does this covenant bring you hope, comfort, and reassurance of God’s faithfulness?

6.What does it mean to submit to Jesus as your King, and how does that influence your daily living?

I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.” You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant: ‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah Psalm 89:1-4
