INTRODUCTION: Standing with Jesus on the Mt. of Olives

Luke 19:28-38
28 … Jesus went on toward Jerusalem, walking ahead of His disciples. 29 As He came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, He sent two disciples ahead. 30 “Go into that village over there,” He told them. “As you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying that colt?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”32 So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said.33 And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?”34 And the disciples simply replied, “The Lord needs it.” 35 So they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it for Him to ride on.36 As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of Him. 37 When He reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of His followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.38‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Hosanna in the highest heaven!’

Isaiah 19:20 - 20 It will be a sign and a witness that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies is worshiped in the land of Egypt. When the people cry to the Lord for help against those who oppress them, He will send them a Saviour who will rescue them.

Zechariah 14:3 - 3 Then the Lord will go out to fight against those nations, as He has fought in times past. 4 On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem.

Zechariah 9:9 - Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is He, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Isaiah 49:8 - “Thus says the LORD, ‘In a favourable time I have answered You, And in a Day of Salvation I have helped You; And I will keep You and give You for a covenant of the people, To restore the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritages.’”

Nehemiah 8:15 - He had said that a proclamation should be made throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, telling the people to go to the hills to get branches from olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees.

2 Kings 9:12 - ‘This is what the Lord says: I have anointed you to be king over Israel.’” 13 Then they quickly spread out their cloaks on the bare steps and blew the ram’s horn, shouting, “Jehu is king!”

Psalm 118:24-26

24 This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 (Hosanna!) Lord, please save us.
(Hosanna!) Lord, please give us success.
26 Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
We bless you from the house of the Lord.

Proverbs 3:5…

5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
He’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honour God with everything you own;
give Him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
your wine vats will brim over.
But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline;
don’t sulk under His loving correction.
It’s the child He loves that God corrects;
a Father’s delight is behind all this.

Q18: WHAT DO WE LEARN FROM PALM SUNDAY?

A: Palm Sunday

humanity’s truest . Just as the crowds eagerly welcomed Jesus as their Messiah, waving palm branches and laying down their cloaks, only to turn against Him, we are prompted to reflect on our priorities and values. Palm Sunday challenges us to examine whether we are making Jesus a priority in every part of our lives or just using Him to fulfill our desires!
