Hebrews 2:5-3:6

This section of Hebrews

Jesus as a greater

You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor, putting everything in subjection under his feet.”

Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. —Hebrews 2:7-8 (ESV)

In being

Jesus had to become

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. —Hebrews 2:14-15 (ESV)

We can have hope in where

is

For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers. —Hebrews 2:10-11 (ESV)

In Jesus we have hope to

For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. —Hebrews 2:18 (ESV)

Where Jesus leads His

is greater than where led them

For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. —Hebrews 3:3 (ESV)

What is this

stirring in ?

Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope. —Hebrews 3:5-6 (ESV)

2 – Read Hebrews 2:6-8. What do you think about everything being subjected to Jesus? How do you process the reality that it isn’t that way yet?

3 – Read Hebrews 2:14-18. What does it mean for us to be delivered from lifelong slavery? What are we slave to?

4 – How are you allowing Jesus to help you in your temptations?

5 – What do you see God leading you into currently? Pray for Him to continue His work to get you there.
