MAIN IDEA:
Jesus gave us a new citizenship, identity, and mission. As we follow Him and pursue His calling, we must learn that adaptability is the attitude of the Kingdom. Otherwise, our desire for comfort and security can hold us back from living our calling as Servants Devoted to God.


INTRODUCTION:

  1. When Jesus made us part of His Kingdom, He gave us a new citizenship, a new identity and a new .
  2. All people who follow Jesus are called to see themselves as Servants Devoted to God, who live to love God and serve with .
  3. Pursuing God’s calling requires that we master the of the Kingdom.

A. Three Unexpected Challenges of the Mission:

The first Christians experienced unexpected challenges in their pursuit of the mission.

B. Overcoming the Challenges of the Mission:

  1. Acknowledge the frontend and backend of the .
  2. Invite everyone to apply their giftedness to engage with both sides of the .

C. Five Obstacles to Adapting like water:

  1. Resisting : Considering change as a threat to comfort or security.
  2. : Longing for the past and downplaying the present.
  3. : Feeling apathy due to emotional tiredness.
  4. : Favoring one’s own ways of doing things while resisting new ideas.
  5. : Minimizing the importance of creating new systems and processes.

D. PERSONAL QUESTION

Are you resisting change or are you learning to adapt like water?

Conclusion:
Following Jesus requires that we learn to become adaptable like water. Otherwise, our resistance to change and our attachment to what is familiar can hinder us from loving God and serving Him with devotion.
