13They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you, 14having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. 15They have forsaken the right way and gone astray… —2 Peter 2:13-15
Did you catch everything the evil possesses?
Know the evil but don’t be
8Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. —Philippians 4:8
Know
12But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption, 13and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime…15following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet. —2 Peter 2:12-13, 15-16
Know God and be
28Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. 29For our God is a consuming fire. —Hebrews 12:28-29
We must give God everything because He IS our everything.
17These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. —2 Peter 2:17
We will never feel at home here.
We will never get used to it.
We need something more than what the world can offer.
