Undivided Kingdom: Kingdom Calling
Discipleship Pastor Ryan Akers
September 1, 2024
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. —Ephesians 4:1
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. —Romans 12:1
Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. —Philippians 1:27
What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? —James 2:14
Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. 16 You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? 17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit… 20 Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions. —Matthew 7:15-17,20
Are you living a life that is worthy of the Gospel?
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. —Ephesians 4:2-3
Humility
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. —Philippians 2:3
Gentle
In our rough and rugged individualism, we think of gentleness as weakness, being soft, and virtually spineless. Not so! …Gentleness includes such enviable qualities as having strength under control, being calm and peaceful when surrounded by a heated atmosphere, emitting a soothing effect on those who may be angry or otherwise beside themselves, and possessing tact and gracious courtesy that causes others to retain their self-esteem and dignity…Instead of losing, the gentle gain. Instead of being ripped off and taken advantage of, they come out ahead! —Chuck Swindoll
Patience
Make allowance for each other’s faults.
Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. —Ephesians 4:3
For there is one body and one spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all. —Ephesians 4:5
