“The Human Side Of Ministry”
Matthew 16:16
“Thou art the Christ, son of the living God.”
Acts 14:15
“We are only men, human like you.”
2 Corinthians 4:7
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all surpassing power is from God and not from us.”
Hebrews 11:12-14
“I don’t have the time to tell you about Gideon, Barek, Samson, David, Samuel, and the prophets who by faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouth of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escape the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength…”
The Benefits Of Our Weaknesses
1) It gives us a greater dependence on God
1 Corinthians 12:10
“For when I’m weak, then I am strong. The less I have, the more I depend on Him.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
“My grace is all you need, for my power is strongest when you are weak.”
2) It Prevents Pride
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
“To keep me from being conceited because of these all surpassing revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me. Three times I pleaded with God to take it away, but He said to me, “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is strongest when you were weak.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses so that Christs’ power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ sake, I delight in weaknesses, and insults, and hardships, and persecutions, for when I’m weak, then I am strong.”
3) It Expands Our Capacity To Minister
2 Corinthians 1:4
“God comforts us in our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
Luke 22:32
“When you have returned to me, strengthen your brothers period”
