Forgiven
1 John 1:5-10
[5] This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. [6] If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. [7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. [8] If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (ESV)

John described God as “light”, meaning God has no “darkness” (evil or sin) in Him. It’s also very important to know that Jesus lived a

life.

We aren’t just cleansed by Jesus’ blood for our sins once in our lifetime, but

. To not think you need to be coninually cleansed is to call God a and the truth (vs 8) & God’s Word (vs 10) is not in you!

There can be no

of sin without of sin.

We need forgiveness for committing sins of

(doing that which God says is evil) and for committing sins of (not doing the good things God tells us to do).

Luke 23:34
[34] And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. (ESV)

When was the last time you NEEDED to confess your sin? What’s stopping you today?
Who is the one person of the same gender (hopefully with you today) you can tell to keep you accountable as you seek to turn away from that sin and live pure?

How can your Harvest ekklesia (church) help you take your next step of faith?

Let Romans 8:1 (There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.) wash over you and let it fuel your worship today!
