INTRODUCTION

When God calls us for bigger things, it can be scary. Bigger things and bigger dreams require full dependency on God as we step into the unknown. People live with fear every day which can paralyze us and hinder our ability to move forward.

Imagine your life without fear! Come and discover how Joshua conquered his fears through a strong dependency on God.

Big faith is confident obedience to the Word of God regardless of the circumstances or the consequences. God told Joshua to “be strong and of good courage; be not afraid.” (Joshua 1:9)

In this collection of talks, we will look at Joshua’s life and learn how to trust God more and fear less.

CONQUERING FEAR WEEK #8:

DON’T GIVE UP

I. GOD (23:3-5)

A. Remember His

. (v.3)

“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.” —John 15:5

“And you were dead in your trespasses and sins 2 in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient. 3 We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, 5 made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!” —Ephesians 2:1-5

B. Remember His

. (v. 4-5)

“God is faithful; you were called by him into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” —1 Corinthians 1:9

“If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.” —2 Timothy 2:13

II. GOD (23:6-11)

“He said to him, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and most important command. 39 The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.’” —Matthew 22:37-40

A.

the Word completely (v. 6-7)

“If you love me, keep my commandments.” —John 14:15

B.

to the Lord (v. 8-11)

“Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” —Romans 12:1-2

III. GOD (23:12-16)

“Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a person sows he will also reap, 8 because the one who sows to his flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. 9 Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.” —Galatians 6:7-10

A. The

of disobedience. (v. 12-13)

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.” —Proverbs 1:7

B. The

of obedience. (v. 14-16)

“The Lord values those who fear him, those who put their hope in his faithful love.” —Psalm 147:11
