Title: How To Keep Going!
Text: Acts 20:22-27
Date: October 27, 2024
Introduction: Here we have a wonderful testimony being shared by the Apostle Paul. The phrase, “And now, compelled” (v 22) shifts the emphasis from the past to the present as Paul opens his heart and tells his friend just how he feels. He did not hide from them the fact that he was compelled or band by the Spirit to go to Jerusalem, even though he knew that danger and possible death awaited him there. The Holy Spirit had witnessed this message to him in city after city. A lesser man would have found some way to escape, but not Paul. He was too gripped by his calling and his devotion to Jesus Christ to look for some safe and easy way out of any situation.
In his testimony, we find, three truths about how to keep going until the Lord calls us home or comes in the air to rapture out His church. They are found in Acts 20:24. What are they?
I. My
II. My
III. My
Conclusion: Dr. V. Raymond Edman, was an American minister and author who served as the fourth president of Wheaton College in Illinois from 1941 to 1965. He often reminded the students that “it’s always too soon to quit!” This is excellent advice for all of us who are serving the Lord and accomplishing His work. In the Lord’s service, it is never time to slacken our efforts. We must keep going and ask ourselves regularly three questions.
— Am I holding my life dear to myself, or do I yield my life to Christ?
— Am I running the race God has assigned to me?
— Am I fulfilling the ministry that He has given me?
