Foundations Recap:
• Humanity was created to be God’s image bearers
• Abraham and his descendants (including the church) are blessed by God to be a blessing to the nations
• God’s people are redeemed by God’s grace and invited to live faithful and holy lives as a response
• Like Abraham and his descendants, we are charged with passing that faith on to others
Bayit - (bye-yeet) - Hebrew word for house or household
The Davidic Covenant:
• God will establish a lineage of kings who will rule after David
• The throne of this kingdom will be eternal
• David’s offspring will build a house for God’s presence
• God will be his father, and the King will be God’s son
The Davidic covenant is ultimately fulfilled in Jesus, but is yet to come to full fruition.
Implications:
1. Hope for the future - when God’s kingdom will reign eternally and God’s presence will fully dwell with his people (Revelation 21:1-8)
2. A call to holy living now - the church is a house of God’s presence in the world today (2 Corinthians 6:16b, 18)
Reflect on these implications for your own life.
