Confidence Booster - Wk 2
August 30, 2020

ReStart, week two:

Hebrews 10:19-25

Last week - we need a new oxygen supply
This week - we need a

boost

Scripture Context: written to followers of Jesus who are feeling vulnerable, feeling persecuted and threatened, getting close to falling away and abandoning their faith altogether… they need a confidence boost

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, —Hebrews 10:19-21

If God is still on the throne…
If we have access to the throne room through the blood of Jesus…

Our confidence isn’t in the rulers of this world, the dictates of this world, our ability to get things right - our confidence is in the Most High God, who is sovereign over the kingdoms of men.

It only takes one word from Jesus (Matthew 8)

22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. —Hebrews 10:22-25

Social distance versus Physical distance:

  • we’re going to stop using the phrase “social distancing” because we know we need each other
  • we are going to practice wisdom is physically distancing in the ways we need to in order to stop the spread of a stupid virus that is putting people we love at risk

Andy’s four habits -

2. Establish a small group routine
