Receive - Rom 5:17

hearing messages about Jesus… believing and becoming like Him… listening to Holy Spirit’s voice, not ours… I can mess up… but He never does…
John 16:13… “the HS will guide you into all truth…”
1Cor 15:34… “awake to righteousness (n)… and sin (v) not…”
Gal 1:12… “not received from man… nor taught… received thru revelation of Jesus…”
Gal 5:24-26… “let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives…”
are you believing what you’re hearing… if not, ask for help, speak, keep listening…
Mark 9:24… “everything is possible… father cried, I do believe, help my unbelief…”
Rom 10… “righteousness that comes from faith, speaks… believe in heart, confess with mouth… how can they believe without hearing… faith comes by hearing…”
Have we discovered how good the Lord is? Then in us He is as good as that! Is His power great? Then in us it is no less great! He is mighty in the lives of those who dare to believe the Word. The operation of His life in us is without effort of ours. The all-important rule is not to try, but to trust. Not to depend upon our strength, but His. Our life is the life of Christ in us. Rom 10:14-17… “faith comes by hearing… hearing message about Christ…”
Rom 4:18… “he believed… he became… what had been spoken…”
Rom 5:17… “receive overflow of grace… gift of righteousness… reign in life…”
can be difficult to receive… don’t feel we deserve… or just want to repay God…
Psa 116:12-17… “how can I repay the Lord for all the good He has done for me… I will take the cup of salvation… I will offer You a sacrifice of thanksgiving…”
John 6:28-29… “what should we do… Jesus said, believe in the One He has sent…”
Acts 17:25… “He has no needs… He gives life and breath… satisfies every need…”
hear, believe, receive… to get everything you need… c’mon that’s too simple…
Psa 119:130… “Your word gives light… so even the simple can understand…”
Luke 24:25… “how foolish and slow you are to believe all prophets have spoken…”
2Cor 11:3… “I fear… you have been deceived… from the simplicity in Christ…”
receive God’s blessings… earn man’s blessings… your choice… best givers are those who freely receive all God has given… then give from their overflow…
Matt 10:8… “heal the sick, raise dead… freely you have received… freely give…”
John 1:12… “to all who receive… gave right to be children… to all who believe…”
1Cor 4:7… “what do you have that you didn’t receive… you are already full, rich…”
Gal 3:14… “blessing of Abraham by Jesus… so we could receive HS thru faith…”
Col 3:24… “knowing you will receive the reward of an inheritance…”
Heb 4:16… “approach throne of grace… receive mercy and grace… to help us…”

God wants to bless us… God wants us to reign… what does that actually mean…
Rom 5:17… “how much more will those who receive… reign in life thru Jesus…”
Rom 5:21… “grace will reign thru righteousness… resulting in life…”
1Cor 4:8… “you are already full… you are already rich… have begun to reign…”
basileuo… kingly power, influence; right and authority to rule; royal power, dominion…
what do we have to receive in order to exercise that power… how much grace is more than necessary… exceedingly abundantly… more than all… now, today…
Rom 5:17… “receive the overflow of grace… reign in life thru Jesus Christ…”
*perisseia… abundance; over and above; more than is necessary; exceedingly abundantly; much more than all; exceed a fixed number of measure; to excel more than; more excellent… *
2Cor 6:1-2… “don’t receive grace in vain… now is the acceptable time… now is the day…”
what else do we need to receive in order to exercise power over sin and death… the gift of righteousness… can’t possibly be earned… gift to those who believe…
Rom 5:17… “those who receive… gift of righteousness… reign in life thru Jesus…”
dorea… gift, present; without charge, without cost, without paying…
Isa 64:6… “all our righteous acts are like filthy rags… our sins carry us away…”
Rom 3:21-26… “righteousness of God thru faith in Jesus… freely by grace…”
very difficult to receive from God if you have trouble receiving from people…
John 3:12… “if you don’t believe earthly… how will you believe heavenly…”
life reigns (zoe) when you receive overflow of grace and gift of righteousness… death reigns (all miseries arising from sin, sickness, death, worry, fear) when you don’t… one more critical piece to receiving and reigning… when should you receive…
Rom 5:17… “receive… overflow of grace… gift of righteousness… reign in life…”
present active… currently taking place or takes place repeatedly as opposed to an action in the past or future; subject is the one doing the action…
not salvation, not one time… if you want to experience abundant life… you have to receive grace repeatedly… take what is one’s own… not refuse or reject… how do you know when… anytime death and sin exercises power or control in our lives…
The Apostles were with Jesus. Why couldn’t they receive? They had witnessed expressions of God but hadn’t turned those expressions into personal experiences. They had seen a lot. They had heard a lot. But they hadn’t personally applied what they’d seen and heard. Access without application will not equal transformation. We can amen every point made in the sermon, but if we don’t apply it to our lives, we won’t be changed. It is only by applying the truth of God to our lives that we can be transformed in the direction of God’s best for us. —Lysa TerKeurst
receive what you believe… believe what you hear… all of this starts with hearing… whose voice do you hear most… wisdom of God’s word… or foolishness of world…
Prov 4:20-23… “pay attention, listen to My words… they are life and health…”
Luke 8:18… “pay attention… listen to My teaching… more understanding given…”
1Cor 1:18-31… “word of the cross is foolishness to world… power of God to us…”
Eph 1:17… “pray God would give you wisdom… in the knowledge of Him…”
Col 2:3… “in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge…”
