The First Noel
Artist: Lauren Daigle
Oh, Oh, Oh
Oh, Oh, Oh
The first Noel
The angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds
In fields as they lay
In fields where they lay
Keeping their sheep
On a cold winter’s night
That was so deep
Noel Noel
Noel Noel
Born is the King
Of Israel
Oh, Oh, Oh
Oh, Oh, Oh
They looked up and
Saw a star
Shining in the east
Beyond them far
And to the Earth it
Gave great light
And so it continued
Both day and night
Noel Noel
Noel Noel
Born is the King
Of Israel
Then let us all with
One accord
Sing praises to our
Heavenly Lord
That hath made Heaven
And Earth of nought
And with His blood mankind
Hath bought
Sing
Praise

Born is the King
Of Israel

Born is the King

Away In A Manger
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And fit us for Heaven to live with Thee there.
What Child Is This
What child is this
Who lay to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping
So bring him incense, gold and myrrh
Come peasant king to own him
The King of Kings salvation brings
Let loving hearts enthrone him
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary
O raise, raise a song on high
His mother sings a lullaby
Joy, oh joy for Christ is born
The Babe, the son of Mary
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary
What child is this who lay to rest
On Mary’s lap, on Mary’s lap he is sleeping
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary
The Babe, the Son of Mary
The Son of Mary

How Many Kings
Artist: Downhere
Follow the star to a place unexpected
Would you believe after all we’ve projected
A child in a manger?
Lowly and small, the weakest of all
Unlikeliest hero, wrapped in his mother’s shawl
Just a child
Is this who we’ve waited for?
‘Cause how many kings stepped down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
And how many Gods have poured out their hearts
To romance a world that is torn all apart?
How many Fathers gave up their Sons for me?
Bringing our gifts for the newborn Savior
All that we have, whether costly or meek
Because we believe
Gold for His honor and frankincense for His pleasure
And myrrh for the cross He’ll suffer
Do you believe?
Is this who we’ve waited for?
Only one did that for me
All for me, all for you…

Sermon Message
Scripture Focus & Notes
Luke 1:39-45 (HCSB)
In those days Mary set out and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judah where she entered Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped inside her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she exclaimed with a loud cry:
“You are the most blessed of women,
and your child will be blessed!
How could this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For you see, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped for joy inside me! She who has believed is blessed because what was spoken to her by the Lord will be fulfilled!”
Meekness & Majesty: Joy In His Presence
The Joy Of Shared Companionship That Confronts Individual Isolation (39-40)
• When Kiros invades Chronos, God is up to something!
• We all long to be around someone who’ll “get us”; we all need to be around someone who loves us.
• It is vital and encouraging for those who’ve experienced grace to talk to others who also have!
The Joy Of Objective Affirmation That Confronts Subjective Doubt (41-42)
• Our hearts should leap whenever we consider the blessings of God.
• That Mary was blessed “among,” not “above” women means that God can use ordinary people. People like us!
• Happiness can be a feeling, but blessedness is a state of being. It is in this state that we experience joy.
The Joy Of Freedom From Jealousy That Confronts Enslaving Envy (43-44)
• Elizabeth recognizing Mary’s baby as her Lord is a rich affirmation to Mary that silences her doubts.
• Even though there are many possible reasons for Elizabeth’s jealousy of Mary, none are present. She is modeling what her son will later proclaim – “I must decrease so that He can increase.”
The Joy Of Faithfulness That Overcomes Fear (45)
• Because Mary experienced the Word of God, she was also able to experience the power of God.
• As God steps into our lives, we rejoice – because we, too, trust that He is faithful!
Joy To The World (Unspeakable Joy
Artist: Chris Tomlin
Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let earth receive her king
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven, and Heaven and nature sing
Joy to the world, the Savior reigns
That all their songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy
Joy, unspeakable joy
An overflowing well
No tongue can tell
Joy, unspeakable joy
Rises in my soul, never let’s me go
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders, wonders of His love
Joy, unspeakable joy
And overflowing well
No tongue can tell
Joy, unspeakable joy
Rises in my soul, never let’s me go
