Day 12: Love Came Down
Scripture Reading: 1 John 4:9-10 (NLT)
Devotional:
The essence of Christmas can be summed up in one word: love. It’s the season we celebrate the incredible love God has for us. He didn’t just send a gift; He gave us the most precious gift of all—His Son, Jesus.
In 1 John 4:9-10, we read, “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”
Isn’t that amazing? We didn’t earn this love or deserve it, but God freely gave it to us. Jesus, born in a humble stable, was the embodiment of God’s love and the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
Christmas is a reminder that love came down to meet us where we are. It’s a love that seeks us out, forgives us, and offers us eternal life. This love isn’t just for one day; it’s for every day of our lives.
So, as we celebrate Christmas, let’s remember the incredible gift of love God has given us. And may we, in turn, share that love with others, for love is the truest expression of the Christmas spirit.
Reflect:
Think about the God’s love for you. How much of your heart and life are you allowing to experience the love of God? Ask God, “What area of my heart and life needs your love the most right now?”
Application:
Think about the people in your life who need to experience God’s love this Christmas. How can you share His love with them in a practical way?
Prayer:
Loving Father, thank you for the incredible gift of love that Christmas represents. Help us to embrace and share that love with others in our lives. May our hearts overflow with love, just as Yours does for us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
