Part 4 - Power of the Holy Spirit

your life with the Holy Spirit – each day Spirit-empowered

It is impossible to overestimate the importance of being filled with the Spirit. It is impossible for us to meet the conditions of the day, to walk in the light as He is in the light, to subdue kingdoms and work righteousness and bind the power of Satan unless we are filled with the Holy [Spirit]
–Smith Wigglesworth

A group of Spirit filled believers met in 1914 in Hot Springs, Arkansas and started what we know as the Assemblies of God.

Romans 8:11a The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you… (NLT)

Acts 1:4-5 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)

Keys to understanding the Holy Spirit in the life of a Believer

  1. The Holy Spirit inhabits every Believer at

Titus 3:5 He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. (NLT)

2 . The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an

work after Salvation

Acts 8:14-17 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God’s message, they sent Peter and John there. As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit. (NLT)

3 .

reveals speaking in tongues as a sign of Holy Spirit Baptism

Acts 2:4 A*nd everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. (NLT)*

Acts 10:44-46 Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God. (NLT)

Acts 19:1-6 Acts 19:1-5 While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled through the interior regions until he reached Ephesus, on the coast, where he found several believers. “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them. “No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” “Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked. And they replied, “The baptism of John.” Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.” As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied. (NLT)

4 . Be

to receive all God has for you!

on the Holy Spirit, not just the specific experiences

1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. (NIV)

The Holy Spirit’s

is not to measure spirituality but to us to live for Christ and His Kingdom until He returns.

Could it be that you haven’t experienced

God has for you?
