Teach Me How to Pray
John 6:60-69
May 5, 2024

A Plan for Prayer:

– the declaration that God is my only hope and I have nowhere else to turn. (Psalm 121:1-2; Psalm 124:8; John 6:68)
– the invitation for God to lead me and guide me.
– most people expect to be rejected by God and it keeps them from even coming; God actually welcomes us with Grace, Mercy, and Peace. (1 Tim 1:2)
– the focused discipline of sharing my “Yay God!” moments in prayer.
– the worship of God in prayer.
– the agreement with Scriptural truth about the character and nature of God.
– I pray about what I’m aware of and ask if there is anything wayward or hidden. (Psalm 139:23-24)
– I pray through the Scriptural truth about the forgiveness of sin.
– asking God to open His Word and give me insight and discernment.
– reading and reflecting on a specific passage of Scripture.
– the prayerful agreement when God has spoken to me about something.
– praying for the needs of others.
– praying for my needs. (I distinguish the difference from intercession, and I try to pray for others first.)
– praying the blessing of God over myself and others.
