Reverential Fear

  1. W.E. VINES says that “A

fear of God is not a mere fear of His power and righteous retribution, but a wholesome dread of displeasing Him.

  2. In other words, one that possesses the fear of the Lord will do all within his heart to avoid sin at all costs for fear of

    Him.

  3. The fear that God wants us to have of Him is not one of “

or fright,” confirmed by Paul in 2 Timothy 1:7 - “God hath not given us a spirit of fear.”

  4. Believing that Jehovah God is the

true God doesn’t necessarily mean that the fear of the Lord is in our heart!

  5. To “tremble at God’s Word” is to willingly

God, even when it appears more advantageous to compromise and disobey.

  6. The truth is many times, we “agree mentally” with Romans 8:28 - but it’s during times of

that we discover what we really believe.

  7. I am persuaded that those who have the “fear of the Lord” in their heart, will

come out of every trial, a victor in Christ Jesus.

  8. We all like to think we’re submitted to who-ever it may be, but it’s during times of disagreement that our submission (or

    of submission) is revealed!

  9. Israel’s actions demonstrated that they would obey God,

    if it benefited them!

  10. It’s so sad how they lacked the fear of the Lord and

to tremble at His Word, in spite of all the provisions and miracles God had given them!

  11. We want soft, pleasant words and an “easy life,” but it’s the “bitter” things in life that cause us to

    in Him.

  12. Faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ will

    from the fear of death!

  13. The Bible tells us that people who are unbelieving and fearful will be cast into the lake of fire, but believers in Jesus Christ have had the fear of death

    .

  14. In these lessons we have learned that God’s goodness leads us to repentance. Therefore, our hearts should tremble with awe and reverence towards Him, and not with a fear that tries to

    from His judgment.
