Learning Love Group Guide
May 12, 2024

Opening question:
What’s a preference you have that is unpopular or divisive (pineapple on pizza, fashion choices, socks and sandals, etc.…)?

Passage:
1 John 3:11-24

Discussion Questions:

  1. What stuck out to you from the message or what questions did you have?
  2. Jesus connects loving God with loving our neighbor. Why do we struggle to live out that connection?
  3. Scotty said being loving is the marker of being part of God’s family. What are the distinctive ways that Christians love?
  4. Scotty talked about how being loving is more than the absence of being hateful; it’s not enough to be neutral or apathetic and think of ourselves as loving. Given this, what does it mean to be loving?
  5. Scotty said sacrifice is love in action. Have you ever experienced love in this way from another person? How did that affect your relationship with them?
  6. Is there any relationship you have that God is calling you to be sacrificial with this week?
