Learning Love Group Guide
May 12, 2024
Opening question:
What’s a preference you have that is unpopular or divisive (pineapple on pizza, fashion choices, socks and sandals, etc.…)?
Passage:
1 John 3:11-24
Discussion Questions:
- What stuck out to you from the message or what questions did you have?
- Jesus connects loving God with loving our neighbor. Why do we struggle to live out that connection?
- Scotty said being loving is the marker of being part of God’s family. What are the distinctive ways that Christians love?
- Scotty talked about how being loving is more than the absence of being hateful; it’s not enough to be neutral or apathetic and think of ourselves as loving. Given this, what does it mean to be loving?
- Scotty said sacrifice is love in action. Have you ever experienced love in this way from another person? How did that affect your relationship with them?
- Is there any relationship you have that God is calling you to be sacrificial with this week?
