SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE
CONVERSATION STARTER
Sunday morning, Pastor Josh encouraged people to come forward for prayer to receive specific gifts. Is there a particular spiritual gift — or gifts — you desire? Why?
DEEPER
Read Romans 12:4-8
Discuss how you’ve used your spiritual gift(s) for the edification of the church and the advancement of the Gospel the last few weeks. Do you have any stories to share?
Who in your life has the gift of prophecy? How has their gift of prophecy helped to strengthen, encourage, or comfort you?
How have you seen the gift of prophecy being utilized here at Gateway Church for the building up of the church? In what ways?
Are there any misconceptions, fears, or concerns about the gift of prophecy that you’d like to share? Additionally, what ways can this gift be handled with wisdom and accountability?
What stood out to you in this week’s sermon? What were your biggest takeaways?
Group activity: Have each member take a few moments to pray silently and ask the Holy Spirit for an encouraging word or Scripture for someone in the group. Then, share these words with each other. In the process, be sure to discern whether these words align with the biblical principles of edification, exhortation, and comfort (1 Cor. 14:3).
