A Few Next Steps

Do a little homework: Peruse through your online bank account to see your previous month’s transactions. Might the things you spend your money on most easily show you what’s most important to your heart? What are the “functional gods” in your life are? Money is often the trail of breadcrumbs leading to our idols.

• Try to identify one or two ways that the American Christian church has tried to “make God in its own image.” Have you seen any of these things in your own life?

• Make some plans to celebrate Advent with your family, roommates, or friends. You could light a candle each night and read something from the Gospels. You could read Luke together. You could watch “The Chosen” series. You could through a Christmas party for your neighbors. Lots of options out there…
