Stand Firm, Love Deep

Read 1 Thessalonians 3:1-13 ESV

  1. Icebreaker - What do you desire to be true of loved ones who live far from you? How often do you think of them?

  2. Based on the passage and sermon, what traits do you admire about Paul?

  3. How do you usually respond when trials and conflict come your way? How does this impact your faith?

  4. Do you relate more to Paul and Timothy (strong in faith and eager to serve) or the Thessalonians (young in their spiritual journey, needing encouragement but learning to stand in their faith)?

  5. In your own words, if you were consistently dealing with affliction, what words or actions would you desire from a man of great faith like Timothy?

  6. What do you think verse 13 means to have a heart that is “blameless in holiness”? Why is this crucial for all who profess faith in Jesus Christ?

  7. Can you imagine what would happen if those who are mature in their faith would consistently and lovingly invest in the lives of those who are new or stagnant in their faith? What could be the results in our households, neighborhoods, region, and beyond?
