Don’t Miss It
Message Study Questions
Message Summary
Holy week is the most important week in history. Significantly, Jesus completed His mission during Passover week, the commemoration of God’s physical deliverance of the Nation Israel from slavery in Egypt. Jerusalem was the center where the Israelites celebrated this Passover festival, culminating with the Passover meal on Thursday. On the first Palm Sunday, Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey and was praised as the Messiah by many. His mission was to deliver humankind from their sin.
However, due to jealousy, the religious leaders missed it and plotted to kill Jesus. They wanted to be the savior, and have the attention and praise. On Thursday evening, Jesus celebrated the Passover meal with His disciples, the most important night of Holy Week. It was His last meal where He washed the Disciples feet and gave us Communion. However, very quickly, Jesus went from this high point to becoming betrayed, forsaken and rejected.
The next day, others missed Jesus’ mission because of fear; still others because of apathy. However, God used all of this in that first Holy Week to bring redemption through Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross. God was revealing His love and mercy, which He offers to all even today. What are we missing from God to do in our lives now?
How have you seen people react when they see a famous personage in person? How did you react?
Can you share something, some opportunity, which you missed and later regretted? Why did you miss it?
