GROUP STUDY
Today’s Focus: God makes appearances in our life every day. The question is…do we see Him? It’s important that we do. In fact, seeing him when life gets hard can make all the difference.
Getting Started
Using a scale of 1-10 (1 = not at all; 10 = very much so), how observant are you? Explain your number.
Share God Sightings
- Where did you observe God’s presence in your life this past week? Can you provide an example?
- Share a recent answer to prayer. How did this help you?
Discussion Thread
Through the example of Jesus’ disciples, we can see just how easy it is to miss His presence in our life. This is something we can’t afford to do, as we also see from their example.
- Make a list of as many ways as you can think of, through which God can make an appearance in our lives (i.e. answered prayer, much needed encouragement at just the right time, specific direction, etc.).
- When looking at the list you just made, what are some of the unique ways that God has made himself known to you in recent times?
- In Mark 6:52 we read of the disciples “their hearts were hardened.” This explains why they failed to gain insight from the miracle of the loaves. What are some indicators of a hardened heart that you’ve observed?
- Pastor Don shared God’s concern for us: “I pass by your life every day and you fail to see me.” What is Jesus saying to you about developing a sensitivity to His activity?
- In what way(s) has your participation in this small group served as a God-Sighting for you?
Prayer
How can we pray for your awareness of God Sightings? What’s an action step you’ll take to Reflect, Record, Remember, and Rejoice in His work this week?
Reading Invitation
Mark 6

2 Kings 6:8-23
What do these passages from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians tell you about our need to see into the realm of the Spirit?
The story in 2 Kings 6 serves as a tangible example this very thing.
What is God saying to you through the above passages?
