DECIDING AND DIRECTING

Text: Ps. 37:23-24

1. Godly Decisions

  • There are two truths at play in our text verse: God’s divine sovereignty and our responsibility.

  • Living a godly life is about two decisions:

    1) We must choose to

    the narrow gate.

    • We can never choose to walk with God until we are first saved. There is only one way to be saved from sin, and that is faith in what Jesus Christ did on the cross of Calvary. Jesus is the one and only Savior.

    2) We must choose to

    the narrow way.

    • Many Christians falter here. They choose the narrow gate. They choose Jesus as Savior, but they’re not interested in choosing Jesus as Lord of their lives.

2. God’s Directing

1) God

the steps of life. (Ps. 37:23)

  • The one choice we need to make: I choose to live a godly life.

2) God

the specifics of life. (Ps. 37:23)

  • God is in the details, and He is in the details of your life.
  • If we serve a God who knows the hairs on our heads and knows every star by name, then He can handle the details of our lives.

3) God

the struggles of life. (Ps. 37:24)

  • God is with us in the struggles of life.

  • Note the text: Though they stumble, they will not fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

  • Fathers steady and secure their children by holding their hands. That is what our heavenly Father does for us

Bottom line: God is the Voice for those who choose the “ ” choice.

Conclusion:

  • This promise applies to you, if:
    1) You have the narrow gate. Are you saved?
    2) You the narrow way. Have you chosen to live godly? Are you on the broadway or the narrow way?
