We Share His Resolve

Luke 22: 63—23:25

In our society, we admire people with resolve – people who are determined to reach their goal and aren’t easily discouraged. From the moment Jesus began his ministry, he was resolved to die for the sins of the world. Throughout Jesus’ life, he faced many difficult situations, but he was resolved to finish. Today we will look at Jesus’ trials in that final week of his life. And as we review his determination to die for us, may we become more determined to live for him regardless of what adversity we may have to endure.

I. Jesus endured the

of the soldiers.

A. While waiting for the Sanhedrin to gather for a clandestine meeting, soldiers

Jesus.

B. As followers of Christ, sometimes we have to endure

from others.

II. Jesus endured the

of the religious leaders.

A. The council of elders was the highest

of the Jews, called the Sanhedrin.

B. A follower of Jesus Christ will at times have to endure

religious people.

III. Jesus endured the

of politicians.

A. Jesus was brought to Pilate for permission to

him.

B. Pilate, a typical politician, wanted out of this difficult situation and made at least five attempts to get rid of his problem:

  1. of the charges.
  2. to Herod.

  3. .

  4. with the mob.

  5. with punishment.

C. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you have to endure the

of many political leaders.
