Easter from a Garbage Dump
Job 19:23-27
Discussion Questions

1. Read Job 19 and summarize the chapter for the group. Tell everyone how it fits into the surrounding verses and the rest of the Book of Job as a whole

  1. Why is the Book of Job referred to as “Some Lessons from a Garbage Dump?” How was Job in a garbage dump at this point in his life? How does that relate to what some people are experiencing right now with the Coronavirus?

  2. What was Job looking forward to in this passage and why is it important to do that in a trial? What happens when you do not have something to look forward to when you are suffering?

  3. Explain the meaning of the phrase “I know that my Redeemer lives” in verse 25. Why is it significant that this is in the present tense and how does it give Job hope in the midst of his garbage dump?

  4. Now explain the meaning of verse 26: “Even after my skin is destroyed, yet from my flesh I shall see God.” How is this a reference to the resurrection and how does it help Job to get through this time of suffering? Why is it always important to keep our eyes fixed on what happens to us after we die?
