Pastor Darrell Huffman
At Trailhead, we believe that church is not just about growing in God’s Word but doing so in community. We have designed this study guide to help you follow along with Sunday’s message. Study the scriptures, take notes, and then reinforce what you learned by answering a few questions. Ask others to join you in discussion, whether it be with your family or your Trailhead study group. Let’s have church!

Romans 10:6-10 (NKJV)
But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Mark 11:22-23 (NKJV)
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
1 Timothy 6:12 (NKJV)
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Matthew 12:33-37 (NKJV)
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood[a] of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure [b]of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Numbers 13:30,32 (NKJV)
Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature.
Joshua 2:8-11 (NKJV)
Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof, 9 and said to the men: “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
Hebrews 4:14 (NKJV)
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
Mark 5:28 (AMPC)
For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.

Discussion Questions
1) Think about the four areas that Pastor Huffman said we must stay vigilant against the enemy’s attacks. (Our thought life, our attitude, our confession, and our actions.) In which area do you find it most difficult to continually operate in faith?
2) Pastor Huffman referenced the amplified version of Mark 11:22, which says, “Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly].”
What do you think it means to have faith “constantly?” What are some practical ways we can encourage ourselves to keep operating out of faith and trust on a continual basis and not just when we find ourselves in hard situations?
3) Pastor Huffman reminded us that Jesus is our greatest example in operating in faith and trusting God. Think about some of the challenges Jesus faced throughout His ministry. What are some examples of how Jesus responded in faith, and how can we apply those examples to our own lives?
(For example, Pastor Huffman referenced the Devil tempting Jesus in the desert (Matt. 4:1-11))
