Message Notes

“Historically, God has accomplished much of His greatest work in the midst of crisis. In these uncertain days, refuse to be driven by fear. Rather, have faith that God continues to steadily accomplish His purposes in the midst of our troubled circumstances.” —Richard Blackaby

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.” —I John 4:1-4

“He went to sleep because He’s a man, but He commanded the wind and waves to go to sleep because He is God.” —Tony Evans

How can we have confidence during uncertain times?

  • We can rely on the power of the Holy Spirit.

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” —I John 4:4

What does the Holy Spirit do in your life during times of uncertainty?

  • He gives us the power to live out God’s commands.

“And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.” —1 John 3:23

“And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.” —I John 3:24

  • He is producing inside of us assurance, confidence, and faith in the goodness of God.

  • He is inspiring us to be bold for Christ.

  • He is empowering us to live righteously.

  • He is convicting of us sin.

  • He is comforting us as we go through trials.

  • He is holding our salvation secure until we get to heaven.

  • He gives us peace.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” —John 14:27

  • He is giving us hope so that we can bring hope to others.

“We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.” —1 John 4:6

  • We can rest in knowing that we belong to God.
