Read Nahum 3:1-19
Icebreaker — If you had to choose to only eat all sweets or all savory for a week, which would you choose?
1. Observations: What are your impressions of Nahum 3?
2. Societal Reflection: Selfishness is revealed in the forms of lying, stealing, and killing. What similarities do you see in our culture? To what degree is the root of these sins caused by our flesh versus the ploy of Satan? Both?
3. Consequences: When was the last time you experienced consequences for your actions, whether good or bad, that were completely out of your control? Did Nineveh deserve God’s righteous justice?
4. Repentance: If you’re completely honest with yourself, what areas of your life need change or repentance? Perhaps you feel stuck and don’t know how to move in a new direction. Do you trust God to work in your life?
5. Hope & Comfort: What parts of Jonah and Nahum are hopeful or comforting to you? Do the themes of these books produce compassion for people in your life who haven’t turned to Jesus Christ in faith for new life?
6. God’s Character: Are there specific things about God that were new to you? Why do you think these books feel uncomfortable to the reader? What’s one thing you want to remember about this series?
